If you have not seen the movie ‘Lone Survivor’, based on the book by the same name, written by Navy Seal Hero Marcus Luttrell and played by Mark Walberg, put it on your list. It is a movie that every American should see!!
‘Lone Survivor’ reminds us of the courage and sacrifice these brave men, our troops, make for us under ridiculously difficult conditions including shortages of equipment and back-up, plus unreasonable “Rules of Engagement” put upon them by politicians who have no clue!
‘Lone Survivor’ is a ‘true’ story about courage that portrays the reality and choices our troops, our special troops, face in the field. Yet we have clueless progressive operatives like Amy Nicholson of LA Weekly writing politically correct propaganda dribble pieces about events and a film they understand nothing about. Glenn Beck invited Nicholson to his Dallas studios, offering to fly her in first class, if she will read the review she wrote of “Lone Survivor” in the presence of former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, on whom the film is based.
Nicholson describes “Lone Survivor” as an embellished “jingoistic snuff film” with an attitude of “brown people bad, American people good”, because truth and reality don’t fit into the politically correct box she lives in.
I actually believe that it is hard for the left to recognize the truth because their side passes off an Oprah’s edited version of a great story like “The Butler”, to fit their divide and conquer race-baiting agenda, as reality. They purposely used traitor Jane Fonda to portray beloved First Lady Nancy Reagan as an insult to patriotic and conservative Americans.
In ‘Lone Survivor’ and Operation Redwing, four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to be very close to Bin Laden with a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive.
This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL fire team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history. His squadmates fought valiantly beside him until he was the only one left alive, blasted by an RPG into a place where his pursuers could not find him. Over the next four days, terribly injured and presumed dead, Luttrell crawled for miles through the mountains and was taken in by sympathetic villagers who risked their lives to keep him safe from surrounding Taliban warriors.
A born and raised Texan, Marcus Luttrell takes us from the rigors of SEAL training, where he and his fellow SEALs discovered what it took to join the most elite of the American special forces, to a fight in the desolate hills of Afghanistan for which they never could have been prepared. His account of his squadmates’ heroism and mutual support renders an experience that is both heartrending and life-affirming. In this rich chronicle of courage and sacrifice, honor and patriotism, Marcus Luttrell delivers a powerful narrative of modern war.
We went to the movies over the weekend where Lone Survivor, playing in two theaters, was sold out by noon for every showing except the last 10:40p.m. show, and when the film was over, everyone in the audience stood and clapped… for a very long time.
Peter Berg (Director/Actor) joined Fox & Friends (below) to respond to leftist progressive media critics such as Amy Nicholson (LA Weekly) blasting his block buster hit ‘Lone Survivor’ for sending out a racist message regarding the War on Terror.

With director Peter Berg, retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, and actor Taylor Kitsch of Lone Survivor about the clashing definitions and manifestations of heroism and courage
The progressive left, whether in Hollywood, in print or news reporting, or in Washington D.C…. New York City or your own hometown have a problem with truth and reality! But judging by the box office, the American people recognize it and have an appetite for it, which will hopefully carry through to the elections of 2014 and 2016 and will prevent the media from helping the left steal another election!!
*Update… I received a comment from a man named Andrew, ostensibly a Seal himself:
“Master Chief Hershel Davis (the renowned Godfather of the Navy Seals), recruited Marcus Luttrel. Google his name and you will see who he is. I met the Master Chief here in Afghanistan three years ago. He was the armorer for the company I work for. His commentary on Luttrel and Lone Survivor was this: ” He ought to quit his fucking whining, he was doing his goddamn job. Lone Survivor (the book at the time), is a monument to what not to do. They had a choice. Either kill that kid or get extracted. They did neither and good men died.” That’s the real story. Lone Survivor is a monument to what not to do in combat.”
I personally agree with Andrew that Luttrel and his team made the wrong call and I was muttering in my seat at the movies when they did. War and duty in military settings require much different thinking and responses than many other settings in life and following your training is imperative. But Luttrel and his entire team paid dearly for that mistake, and it does not take away from their courage; the fact that there were not enough Apachi Helicopters available; and perhaps it outlines that even for Navy Seals, hampered by the Rules of Engagement in place and growing up in a society filled with political correctness that weakens us all, that progressive thinking and guilt vs. common sense and reality, has crept into all our lives to some extent. And it also does not absolve progressive jour’no’lists, like brainwashed Amy Nicholson of LA Weekly, from making irresponsible comments and writing belittling uninformed pieces about movies on subjects they don’t understand!
