Stew, When Col. George McCall retired Air Force (he will be 92 next month), he sent me this as we had talked about aviation & my air control days, in this piece of history, `Jet age they had mobile air control. Now `I wasn’t born yet, but this Col. has opened my eyes to more history like yourself. We’ve come along way in 70 yrs. Senior military are very well educated, Lord they’ve done their job, now we show our children.!! Just amazing ~~~~Ron King
The first American jet, equipped even with a dummy prop for counter intelligent reasons !!!! (not to be forgotten , even a $2.00 door bell mounted on it’s instrument panel !!) Stew
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF AVIATION HISTORY
This is a video of the first US jet way back in Oct 1942… It is a classic piece of film I certainly never knew existed. I wasn’t even aware that America HAD a jet that early in the war: 10 months after Pearl Harbor!
Hope you enjoyed this great clip of history…
This is a very interesting little piece of historical film. It covers America ‘s entry into the Jet Age with the Bell P59A.
Note: They installed a $2 doorbell ringer to the dash of the P59A to provide vibration so the gauges wouldn’t stick.
Ya’ gotta’ love it
