daughter Summer will be heading off to Semester at Sea at the end of
August … truly an adventure of a lifetime.  When we had lunch
for her birthday she said that when she talked about  the trip to
people her age they were really excited about it, but when she talked
about it to older people, they asked her why??  And made comments
that she was spoiled.

been thinking about that ever since.  None of my friends or
relatives have or would make comments like that.   They
are all really excited for her!!  I’m sure the negativity is
coming from family on her father’s side and possibly
even from him.  They are all pretty cheap and self
absorbed and are scared to death that someone might ask them for a
penny or two… not that we ever have.  They also lack vision
or a view of life outside their little comfort zones.

would not see the value in an itinerary like the
following??  A 103 day trip to places most people just
dream of, including me!!

Nassau, Bahamas – 3 days Pre-Trip

La Guaira, Venezuela – 4 days

Salvador, Brazil – 5 days

Cape Town , South Africa 5 days

Mombasa, Kenya – 5 days

Chennai (Madras), India – 5 days

Yangon, Myanmar – 5 days

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – 5 days

Hong Kong, China – 5 days

Honolulu, Hawaii – 1 day

San Diego, California (Home)

My daughter and I have had some real problems over a single issue this past year,
relating to this negative family.  I am sooo glad that she has a
sense of adventure and would like to think that she gets that from
me plus will realize that somewhere along the way… as well
as the fact that she has gotten to do so many
and exciting things because my husband (her stepdad) and
I have always been here to support her.  Even now, after

her poor choice and deceit this past year.

is now in Hawaii and both organized and paid for that all
herself.  I hope someday she will realize that I am proud of her
and that she truly is becoming the person I had hoped
she would … independent, adventuresome and willing to take

someday she will see where her support is and who really loves
her?  If not I will have to settle for being proud of her spunk if
not her loyalty and integrity.

are in the field trip booking and planning stage of this
incredible adventure… If anyone has any input as to must see(s) or
dos and don’ts for any of these destinations, your input is

About Ask Marion

I am a babyboomer and empty nester who savors every moment of my past and believes that it is the responsibility of each of us in my generation and Americans in general to make sure that America is as good or even a better place for future generations as it was for us. So far... we haven't done very well!! Favorite Quotes: "The first 50 years are to build and acquire; the second 50 are to leave your legacy"; "Do something that scares you every day!"; "The journey in between what you once were and who you are becoming is where the dance of life really takes place". At age 62 I find myself fighting inoperable uterine Cancer and thanks to the man upstairs and the prayers from so many people including many of my readers from AskMarion and JustOneMorePet... I'm beating it. After losing our business because of the economy and factors related to the re-election of President Obama in 2012 followed by 16-mos of job hunting, my architect-trained husband is working as a trucker and has only been home approximately 5-days a month since I was diagnosed, which has made everything more difficult and often lonely... plus funds are tight. Our family medical deductible is 12K per year for two of us; thank you ObamaCare. But thanks to donations from so many of you, we are making ends meet as I go through treatment while taking care of my father-in-law who is suffering from late stage Alzheimer's and my mother-in-law who suffers from RA and onset dementia as well as hearing loss, for which there are no caretaker funds, as I continue the fight here online to inform and help restore our amazing country. And finally I need to thank a core group of family, friends, and readers... all at a distance, who check in with me regularly. Plus, I must thank my furkids who have not left my side through this fight. You can see them at JustOneMorePet.
